You may have tried some of the advertised “fat burning” supplements out there such as Hydroxycut, this post will teach you how to make a Homemade Fat Burn Supplement. Although you may lose weight using these supplements, the primary weight you are losing is not fat, it’s water. If you pull apart the word Hydroxycut, you will come up with Hydro and Cut, which is exactly what the supplement does – it cuts water weight. While not bad per se, your body is much smarter than the pill. Hydroxycut will work while you are taking the supplement, but once you go off the supplement; your body will regulate itself and put the water weight right back on.
To combat this and to really lose fat, you have to think in terms of calories in and calories out. Basically, the more calories you expend in comparison to the calories you consume will result in the more weight you will lose. Period.

However some people need an extra boost pre-workout. Here is a solution.
Consume the lesser known EGCG or Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (an antioxidant found in tea’s green/white/oolong, etc. more specifically it is catechins which are polyphenolic antioxidant plant metabolites). An EGCG and caffeine “stack” is a highly effective fat burn supplement you can purchase for a fraction of the cost of many of these so called “weight loss” or “fat burning” supplements.
EGCG acts as a thermogenic. A thermogenic works by heating up your body at a faster rate than just working out alone, and a higher body temperature equates to a faster calorie burn (heat burns fat). It is best to take this in pill form, unless you drink a lot of green tea, because of the higher concentration of EGCG. One cup of Green tea contains about 150~200 milligrams (mg) of EGCG. This is a great dosage when you’re just starting out, but eventually you will want to increase your intake to about 400 or 500mg’s
When I take supplements, I normally take between 200~500mg of EGCG either in green tea or capsule form. I recommend that you stay within these limits – *Higher Is Not Better*.
As I’m sure most of you intelligent, sarcastic people know by now, Caffeine acts as a stimulant. Or, in terms that other people can understand, it activates and ramps up your metabolism. A ramped up metabolism equals higher fat burn and weight loss.
The problem with caffeine is that some people consume WAY too much in daily coffee consumption. The MAXIMUM amount you want to consume is 4 milligrams (mg) per Kilogram (kg) of body weight. If you don’t know what your weight is in kg click here or calculate it yourself at (1) lbs / 2.2 = kilograms.
1 (one) 8 oz. cup (brewed) has approximately 140 mg of caffeine. So I imagine you’re now thinking well “I don’t drink that much coffee and I’m well within tolerances.” If you drink coffee, you need to know that coffee is one of the most acidic (pH balance, I will be writing about pH balance soon) drinks you can drink. For now, know that the more acidic pH your body is the more fat you will store. For caffeine intake I recommend just simple caffeine tablets and water.

- When you do buy them, I recommend you only use it on the days you workout. No exceptions.
- Only use them for 4 weeks then stop using them for 2~3 weeks. You don’t want your body to become accustomed to them and, then worse, need them.
- Don’t think that taking this alone will do you any good. YOU HAVE TO EAT RIGHT AND WORKOUT AND REST. Sitting on your ass and taking these won’t do you any good; it will only give you the shakes.
